IMPROVISED MUSIC AND CREATIVITY

577 RECORDS has been producing creative music since 2001 and has released CDs featuring the work of founder Federico Ughi and other improvisors from New York and around the world.

This grassroots, independent label got its start with the living room concerts that Federico Ughi gave in his Brooklyn home, a classic New York art set up. As a musician having just arrived in New York, Ughi wanted to create an intimate venue to showcase the creative music he had come to play. The name of the label was taken from the address of the house where these concerts first took place (577 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, New York).
With the enthusiasm and support of many artists these events started building in audience. People traveled from Manhattan, New Jersey and farther away to see these musicians perform.

577 RECORDS has now moved from its original location but has preserved its spirit and purpose.
